Mesh Simplifier
Mesh Simplifier decimates triangles by a reduction ratio or an exact target face count to shrink the file. Drop in a mesh, set the ratio or target count, check the before/after triangle and vertex stats, then download the simplified STL.
Processing and data safety
Section titled “Processing and data safety”This tool runs entirely in your browser — your files are never uploaded to a server.
Input and output
Section titled “Input and output”- Formats: STL, OBJ, PLY, 3MF, GLB, GLTF
- Flow: Mesh → simplified mesh (by ratio or target face count)
How to use
Section titled “How to use”- Open a mesh model (point-cloud inputs are rejected with a clear message) — the current triangle count is shown.
- Set the reduction ratio, or type an exact target face count (converted via the Euler formula); inspect the on-page preview.
- Click Convert & download to export the simplified STL — the result summary shows the actual before/after counts.
Key details and limits
Section titled “Key details and limits”- Aggressive reduction removes fine detail.
- Non-indexed inputs (e.g. STL with per-face normals) are welded by position (tolerance 0.0001) before decimation; normals are recomputed and UVs are dropped.
- Point-cloud inputs (.xyz/.pcd and faceless PLY) are rejected with a clear message — convert to a mesh format first.
Common use cases
Section titled “Common use cases”- Upload a mesh → set 50% or a target face count → check the stats → download the simplified STL
