STL Mesh Smoother
STL Mesh Smoother denoises STL, OBJ, PLY, 3MF and GLB meshes with Taubin smoothing (volume-preserving, the default) or Laplacian: drop a model, tune the iterations and strength with a live on-page preview…
Processing and data safety
Section titled “Processing and data safety”This tool runs entirely in your browser — your files are never uploaded to a server.
Input and output
Section titled “Input and output”- Formats: STL, OBJ, PLY, 3MF, GLB, GLTF
- Flow: Mesh → smoothed mesh (Taubin or Laplacian)
How to use
Section titled “How to use”- Open a mesh (STL, OBJ, PLY, 3MF or GLB — it previews on the page; point-cloud inputs are rejected with a clear message).
- Pick the algorithm (Taubin by default; Laplacian shrinks) and set the iterations and strength.
- Inspect the on-page preview, then click Convert & download to export the smoothed STL — the result summary shows the volume change and before/after counts.
Key details and limits
Section titled “Key details and limits”- May round sharp edges.
- Non-indexed inputs (e.g. STL with per-face normals) are welded by position (tolerance 0.0001) before smoothing; normals are recomputed and UVs are dropped.
- Point-cloud inputs (.xyz/.pcd and faceless PLY) are rejected with a clear message — convert to a mesh format first.
Common use cases
Section titled “Common use cases”- Upload a mesh → smooth → check the stats → download STL
