Supports LAZ
Choose fileThe built-in sample is a synthetic terrain delivered as uncompressed LAS content — it runs the same decode/render pipeline as LAZ (no compressed sample asset is bundled; the LAZ decoder kicks in for real compressed files). Hover any point to inspect its attributes (coordinates/intensity/class/RGB).
Compressed LAZ point clouds, decoded and rendered locally. If decoding fails, your current view is kept — try another file.
What is it? LAZ Point Cloud Viewer decodes compressed LAZ clouds locally in the browser (WebAssembly laz-perf) and renders them in 3D: color by elevation, intensity, classification or RGB, with classic/spectral/mono color presets, an EDL depth-enhancement toggle, class-legend toggle filters (class names + standard colors), and a display-only clip box. An along-X elevation profile renders below the canvas, and the profile tool turns a line drawn on its top view into a cross-section with an approximate fill/cut/net volume. The 3D toolbar adds screenshot, distance/angle measurement, annotations, X/Y/Z section, share and embed; the stats card shows point counts (total and after filter) and bounds.
TL;DR: Open compressed LAZ clouds locally with EDL, class filters, a clip box, profiles and volume estimates — free, no sign-in, nothing uploaded.
How to use
- Open a .laz file — it decodes and renders locally (large clouds are display-sampled to a 4M-point budget); or click Load sample — the built-in synthetic terrain runs as uncompressed LAS content through the same decode/render pipeline (no compressed sample asset is bundled).
- Pick a color mode and preset (classic/spectral/mono) and point size; optionally switch on EDL depth enhancement.
- Toggle classes in the legend (ground, buildings, vegetation, …) or set a clip box (X/Y/Z min·max) to focus the display. Hover any point to inspect its attributes (coordinates/intensity/class/RGB).
- Use the 3D toolbar to measure distance/angle, annotate, sweep an X/Y/Z section, or take a screenshot.
- Read the along-X elevation profile, or draw a line on the profile tool's top view for a cross-section plus an approximate fill/cut/net volume.
FAQ
How is LAZ decoded?
A WebAssembly LAZ decoder runs locally in your browser.
Is it uploaded?
No.
Clip box vs. real filtering?
The clip box only hides points from the display. To actually filter and export points, decompress to LAS and use the LAS filter tool, or use the cloud filter tool for huge files.
What is a LAZ file?
LAZ is the LASzip-compressed form of the ASPRS LAS point cloud format — the same point records (XYZ, intensity, classification, RGB) at a fraction of the LAS size. It is the usual delivery format for surveyed LiDAR data, and it is decoded right here in your browser.
How large a LAZ file can I open?
There is no upload limit because nothing is uploaded — the whole file is decoded at once in your browser, so the practical limit is your device's memory. Display is stride-sampled to a 4M-point budget (the stats card shows sampled vs. total); for huge clouds use the COPC Viewer, which streams level-of-detail.
Can it convert LAZ to LAS or export points?
No — this is a read-only viewer. To decompress LAZ to LAS or export filtered points, use the LAS/LAZ export tool, or the cloud filter tool for files too large for the browser.
Do I need an account?
No. It is free with a daily allowance, no sign-in, and the file never leaves your device — decoding and rendering run locally.
Examples
- Drop in a .laz → 3D view
- Click Load sample → synthetic terrain runs the same decode/render pipeline, no compressed sample bundled
Supported formats
Limitations
- Based on @loaders.gl/las + laz-perf (MIT/Apache-2.0).
- The whole file is decoded at once (no streaming) — very large clouds are memory-bound; for hierarchical streaming use the COPC Viewer.
- Decoded points are evenly stride-sampled to a 4M-point display budget (the stats card reports sampled vs. total); the filter/export tools process the full cloud.
- The clip box and class filters affect the display only — no data modification or export.
- Read-only viewer.
- Runs locally in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
