ASCII DXF only · Linework only · Runs locally

Merge 2+ ASCII DXF drawings into one (linework only).

What is it? DXF Merger & Combiner merges several DXF drawings into a single DXF. Entities from each file are combined — overlaid in place at their original coordinates or laid out side by side — for review, nesting or archiving. Everything runs locally in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

TL;DR: Combine multiple DXF files into one drawing — overlay them in place or lay them out side by side. Free, no sign-in, and everything runs locally in your browser: nothing is uploaded.

How to use

  1. Add two or more DXF files and set the merge order — the file list can be reordered or trimmed before merging.
  2. Pick a layout: overlay in place (default) or side by side (each file shifts along +X after the previous one's width plus an adjustable gap; 0 = auto, 5% of the largest drawing span).
  3. Click Merge. Everything runs locally in your browser.
  4. Check the inline preview, then download the merged DXF.

FAQ

Are layers preserved?

Layer names are preserved (tables merged by name); colors and linetypes are not — defaults are written.

Is it local?

Yes, merging happens in your browser.

How are the drawings positioned?

By default drawings are overlaid in place at their original coordinates — overlapping geometry is not rearranged. Choose the 'side by side' layout to shift each file along +X after the previous one (Y stays untouched).

Is it free? Do I need an account?

Yes — merging uses a free daily allowance and needs no sign-in. Batch runs and larger quotas are the paid Pro tier.

Can I merge DXF files without AutoCAD?

Yes — this runs entirely in your browser, so no CAD software is needed. In AutoCAD itself the usual route is to INSERT or XREF the other drawings into one file; here you just drop the files in and merge.

Can it merge DWG files?

No — DXF only, and ASCII DXF at that. In AutoCAD or LibreCAD, save the DWG drawings as DXF first, then merge them here.

What happens to text, hatches and dimensions?

Only linework is merged (LINE/POLYLINE/CIRCLE/ARC/POINT): text positions are kept as points and the text content is dropped, and entity types outside the whitelist (SPLINE/INSERT/HATCH/DIMENSION) are not merged — the result panel reports per-type counts, including types the parser silently drops.

Examples

  • Drop in 2+ part drawings → merge into one nesting/layout sheet
  • Drop in multi-sheet drawings → merge in order into one review sheet
  • Multiple DXFs with the same layer structure → merge for archiving

Limitations

  • ASCII DXF only — re-save binary DXF as ASCII from your CAD tool.
  • Linework only (LINE/POLYLINE/CIRCLE/ARC/POINT); TEXT/MTEXT positions are kept as points and text content is dropped.
  • Entity types outside the linework whitelist (e.g. SPLINE/INSERT/HATCH/DIMENSION) are not merged — the result panel reports per-type counts, including types the parser silently drops such as HATCH.
  • Output is rewritten geometry: lines become polylines and circles/arcs are approximated as segmented polylines.
  • Y is written as-is — no mirroring; the output declares no units ($INSUNITS=0), so millimeters are never assumed.
  • Layer tables are merged by layer name; layer colors and linetypes are not preserved (defaults are written).
  • Files are merged in the order they are added.
  • Side-by-side layout shifts each file along +X (gap adjustable, 0 = auto at 5% of the largest span); Y coordinates stay untouched.
