Supports DXF

Choose file

ASCII DXF only. Parsed locally in your browser — large drawings parse in a background thread; up to 200,000 entities, best under 100k. The drawing never leaves your device.

What is it? DXF Viewer renders DXF drawings in the browser with wheel zoom, drag pan and fit view, layer show/hide, isolate, lock and recolor, plus distance, angle & area measurement with vertex snapping — export what you see to SVG. Support covers lines, polylines, circles, arcs, ellipses and text.

TL;DR: View DXF drawings in your browser: zoom and pan, toggle or recolor layers, measure distance, angle and area with vertex snapping, and export an SVG of what you see — free, no upload, no sign-up.

How to use

  1. Open a DXF file — it renders fitted to the view.
  2. Zoom with the wheel (around the pointer), pan by dragging, and use Fit view to re-frame. Toggle, isolate, lock or recolor layers in the panel, and measure distance, angle or area by clicking points (vertices snap automatically; locked layers are excluded).
  3. Download an SVG of the current state (layers, colors and measurements included; always the full drawing).

FAQ

Can I measure dimensions?

Yes — switch the Measure row to Distance, Angle or Area, click points on the drawing (vertices snap automatically, locked layers are excluded), read the live value, and export the points as a TXT file.

How do I zoom and pan?

Scroll to zoom around the pointer, drag to pan, and use Fit view or the zoom in/out buttons to re-frame. Pinch-zoom is not supported on touch screens — use the buttons instead. The current view only affects the display; the exported SVG is always the full drawing.

Is anything uploaded?

No, everything is drawn locally.

What is the difference between DXF and DWG?

DXF is an open drawing exchange format that this tool reads directly; DWG is AutoCAD's closed format — save/export as DXF from your CAD tool first.

Can I view DXF files without AutoCAD?

Yes — this viewer parses DXF directly in your browser. Drop a .dxf file and it renders immediately: no AutoCAD, no plugin, no account, and the file never leaves your device.

Which DXF versions are supported?

Any ASCII (text-encoded) DXF, from legacy drawings up to current AC1032-era files. Binary DXF is not supported — re-save it as ASCII from your CAD tool first. INSERT block references expand up to 4 nesting levels, and 3D solids are only partially supported.

Can I export the drawing to SVG, PDF or PNG?

SVG yes — the viewer exports the full drawing with your layer visibility, colors and measurements as an SVG you can reopen in Inkscape or Illustrator. For PDF and PNG use the dedicated DXF to PDF and DXF to PNG tools, which handle page sizing and batch output.

Examples

  • Drop in a DXF file → preview instantly and export SVG
  • Hide and recolor layers, measure a distance, then download the SVG with the measurement.

Supported formats

DXFSVG

Limitations

  • ASCII DXF only — re-save binary DXF as ASCII from your CAD tool.
  • INSERT block references are expanded (moved/scaled/rotated, up to 4 levels deep); 3D solids are only partially supported.
  • Pinch-zoom is not supported on touch screens — use the zoom in/out and Fit view buttons instead; measurements are in drawing units.

Privacy

Privacy first: this tool runs entirely in your browser — your input and files never leave your device, and everything is cleared when you close the page.
