What is it? Which mode should I pick?
Editable text for reusing content; page-image layout (a local layout copy) when you must preserve appearance exactly.
How do I switch modes?
The two local modes re-run automatically on the same file when you switch — no need to drop it again. Drop a new file to replace it; the cloud mode has its own upload panel.
Is it uploaded?
The editable-text and page-image modes run locally — nothing is uploaded. The optional cloud editable mode uploads the PDF to our VPS (LibreOffice, text-frame layout) and deletes it right after conversion.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
The editable-text and page-image modes are free with a daily allowance and need no sign-in — they run in your browser. The optional cloud editable mode (LibreOffice on our VPS, text-frame layout) requires an account and cloud quota.
Will the .docx look exactly like the PDF?
Editable text mode rebuilds the structure, not the exact layout — headings, lists and tables carry over, but complex layouts, columns and floating elements may need cleanup in Word. When appearance must be exact, pick page-image layout: every page is embedded pixel-exact, but the text is not editable.
Does it keep tables?
When rows align consistently (three or more consecutive high-confidence rows), they are rebuilt as real Word tables. Lower-confidence candidates stay as plain text and the page discloses them, so nothing is silently mangled.
Can it convert a scanned PDF?
Not directly — text mode needs a selectable text layer. Run PDF OCR on the scanned file first, then convert the result here.
Can I edit the text after converting?
Yes in editable-text mode — the output is a normal .docx with real paragraphs, headings and tables. Layout mode is a visual copy: pages are embedded as images and cannot be edited. The cloud mode produces text-box layout where every paragraph is an editable text box.

Privacy
Processed locally in your browser by default — nothing is uploaded unless you choose cloud processing. Then files travel over an encrypted connection to our own VPS, are stored for 1 days by default and auto-deleted, or you can delete them earlier at any time.
