How to use
- Open a .step or .stp file.
- Orbit and zoom to inspect the model; while a large assembly is parsing you can click Cancel parsing (the previously loaded model is kept).
- Use the toolbar to measure distance/angle, annotate, section or take a screenshot; pick a tessellation preset before dropping for finer edges.

Is anything uploaded?
No — the model is parsed locally.
Can I measure?
Yes — pick Distance (click two points) or Angle (click three points) in the toolbar after the model loads. Readouts are millimeters (the file's units are converted on parse); declare the model unit in the selector to also get the inch conversion.
Which STEP versions are supported?
AP203, AP214 and AP242 — regular solids and assembly structures load. Large assemblies parse in the browser and can be cancelled mid-parse.
Are measurements in the file's own units?
Readouts are millimeters: the parser converts the STEP file's units to mm on parse (inch-declared files scale by 25.4). Use the unit selector for inch readouts.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
Free with a daily allowance, no sign-up. STEP parsing (OCCT WASM) and WebGL rendering run entirely in your browser tab, so the file never touches a server.
Can I view STEP files without installing CAD software?
Yes — this viewer parses .step and .stp files directly in your browser. No installation, no account; that is the main use case for reviewers who don't have a SolidWorks, CATIA or NX license.
What about .stp files?
.stp is just another extension for the same ISO 10303-21 STEP format — drop either .step or .stp files, both load the same way.
Is there a file size limit?
No upload cap — parsing runs in your browser's memory, so the practical limit depends on your device rather than a server quota. Large assemblies can be cancelled mid-parse while keeping the last loaded model.

Limitations
- Large models are limited by browser memory; very large files may fail to parse — lower the precision or split the assembly. Parsing can be cancelled while running (the previously loaded model is kept).
- View-only — the tool does not export or write STEP files; for mesh output use STEP to STL / STEP to GLB (also tessellated, not exact B-Rep).
- Parsed locally in your browser (OCCT WASM); files are not uploaded.
- Displayed mesh is a tessellated approximation of surfaces.
- Measurement readouts are millimeters: OCCT converts the STEP file's units to mm on parse (verified: an inch-declared 10-unit cube measures 254). Use the unit selector for mm/in conversions.
- Toolbar includes distance/angle measuring, annotation, section, screenshot, sharing and embedding.
- Exploded view appears for multi-part assemblies only.
